Since 1995, Silicon Beach Consulting has built a reputation for excellence in computer networks. Designing a network that will meet your businesses needs for the present and into the future, we have installed Microsoft Windows NT (and now Windows 2000) servers, routers, hubs, switches, firewalls...whatever it takes to make your business able to do business.

However, with the expansion of our Internet Services division, we are forced to scale back on technical service work. For instance, we no longer offer "front line" network support, due to our inability to provide for the high availability that work requires.

And yet, many of our previous clients wish to continue having our expertise available and are willing to accept that we can only provide technical service work by advance appointment. Others want us to continue in an oversight role, if nothing else.

We value that trust, and we want to be available as we can to meet those needs. Effective January 1, 2001, we are now providing the following areas of technical services at the indicated hourly rates. All consulting and technical service work is performed by advance appointment only.

Consulting: We can provide consulting services on an hourly basis, or by contract relationship. Base rate, $100 per hour.

• Review proposals or technical documents, and advise the client on the correctness or feasibility of a plan.
  
  
• Provide technical oversight of work being performed for a client. Let's be honest for a minute. Do you know whether you are getting good service or not? We can be your advocate, with no interests of our own to serve. We will assure that you get the work you're paying for.
  
  
• Strategic IT Planning. Our principal consultant, Mark Lautenschlager, has a background in IT at the corporate level. The methods developed through years of best practice exchange and real-world experience can be applied to your IT needs, even if you have a small business with only a few computers. Trite, but true: Failing to plan is planning to fail.

Field Technical Services: Base rate, $140 per hour. Clients outside of Broward County, Florida will be assessed appropriate travel costs. Please check with us if you have any questions.

• Network Performance Analysis. Is your Local Area Network slow? Are you struggling to meet deadlines because you're waiting on your computers? Unmanaged network growth leads to congestion and performance problems. We can analyze and re-engineer your network to correct these issues.
  
  
• Servers. The key to your network is your server, and one that is configured incorrectly will be an obstacle in the way of your data. Microsoft Windows NT/2000 and Microsoft Exchange servers are our specialty. (We're sorry, we no longer provide support on Novell NetWare servers.)
  
  
• IP Network Design. Your IP addressing scheme is essential to the proper flow of information, especially in larger corporate networks. If subnets are not masked properly and routers not configured correctly, you will not be able to communicate properly with users on other network segments. We have deep experience and considerable expertise in this area, and we have designed the IP addressing scheme for many significant clients in Southeast Florida. (In a subcontracting role, we might have even done this for your company and you're not even aware of it.)

• We can establish domain names for your business, hosted in our high availability DNS servers.
  
  
• We will provide you with an unlimited number of canonical names. (Clients requiring more than two DNS modifications per month may have this service provided via contract.)
